Who we serve

When the pieces don't connect, retirement gets harder than it needs to be.

We work with those needing to coordinate retirement accounts and other income sources into a synchronized plan.

Most arrive with their financial life spread across a dozen places. Each piece may be fine on its own. The problem is that nobody is looking at how they work together. These are the things that change when someone does.

Coordinated Financial Strategy

When your investments, taxes, and income decisions are made separately, they can quietly work against each other. A coordinated plan connects them — so a Social Security decision accounts for its tax impact, and a withdrawal strategy accounts for what it does to your bracket years from now.

Retirement Income Clarity

The shift from earning a paycheck to creating one is the hardest transition in retirement, and most people face it without a clear picture. A structured income plan shows you where each dollar comes from, in what order, and how long it's designed to last.

Tax-Aware Decision Making

Taxes are the largest controllable expense most retirees face, and the biggest opportunities close well before you notice them. Planning across decades rather than filing seasons helps you keep more of what you've spent a career building.

A Process You Can Follow

Second-guessing is exhausting, especially when markets move. A written plan and a defined process give you something to return to — so you're making decisions from a framework instead of from headlines.

Each piece may be fine on its own. The problem is that nobody is looking at how they work together.

Our approach

Three guiding principles in every plan

Not a product to sell — a process to follow, written down and revisited with you over time.

  1. 01

    Protect principal first

Markets recover, but timelines don't. We design portfolios that participate in growth while limiting how much you can lose in any single year. The math of recovery is brutal after 60 — and we plan accordingly.

  2. 02

Plan for income, not just returns

Accumulation is one game. Distribution is a completely different one. We focus on building income streams that survive market drops, inflation, and a 25-30 year retirement.

  3. 03

    Coordinate everything

Investments, taxes, Social Security, Medicare, estate planning, and insurance work together — or they work against each other. Most people have those pieces scattered across professionals who never talk. We bring it under one plan.

We started working with J. Hartman Anderson several years before retirement. There were many details to work out and he had all the answers. It was much easier then we thought it would be and more to our advantage than we thought it would be. We trust him completely. We have referred him to other family and friends and they also have had a good experience.

Common questions

Straight answers.

What people ask most before deciding to work with us.

Who do you typically work with?

We focus on pre-retirees and retirees, generally between ages 55 and 80, who want to protect what they've accumulated and grow it at a measured pace. We also work with business owners and high-income professionals planning for retirement, and with professionals changing jobs who need to coordinate old 401(k) balances into a broader plan.

Are you a fiduciary?

Yes. As an Investment Advisor Representative under Brookstone Capital Management, LLC (a Registered Investment Advisor), we operate under a fiduciary standard, which means we're legally required to act in your best interest at all times.

What's your minimum?

We don't have a hard minimum. We focus on clients where we can deliver meaningful, coordinated value — generally clients with $250,000 or more in investable assets — but we evaluate fit case by case.

Do you work with clients outside of Utah?

Yes. As an Investment Advisor Representative, we work with advisory clients across the United States. Many of our clients prefer video meetings, especially during winter or while traveling.

How do you get paid?

For investment advisory services, we charge a competitive percentage of assets under management annually. For life insurance and annuities, we receive a commission from the issuing insurance company — there's no separate charge to you. We provide a complete cost breakdown before any engagement.

How do I get started?

Schedule a complimentary 30-minute introductory call. We'll discuss your situation, what you're trying to accomplish, and whether we're a good fit. No obligation, no pitch.
